Jade Goody
Former Big Brother contestant Jade Goody has been arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at an Asda store in Essex. But she was released when police decided there was not enough evidence to charge her. Staff at Asda in Harlow called police after a security tag on a £16 denim jacket she was carrying set off a security alarm, The Sun reported.
A spokesman for Ms Goody, 24, told The Sun that staff had merely forgotten to remove the tag after she paid. 'Run its course' "She did not do anything wrong," he said. "As far as she is concerned, she went into the store and purchased a number of items of clothing before leaving. "She thought Asda staff mistakenly left the tag on the jacket."
Essex Police's Insp Adrian Dearsley said on Monday: "Police received a report at 1450 on Sunday afternoon of a theft of an item of clothing from Asda's in Harlow. "This evening a 24-year-old woman from Chipping Ongar was arrested on suspicion of theft. "The investigation has run its course and there will be no charge out of it."
Ms Goody, one of Big Brother's most popular personalities, came third in the Channel 4 reality TV show in 2002.
