    Oddyssey Arena (again)

On Friday night I was supposed to be going on a pub crawl with my Lynder.

Then at about 10.30 that morning the haed of Voderfone marketing emailed me and asked me to come and see her. I went to her desk and she was asking me if I would host the Westlife box tonight as a "big favour" to her!! Such a drag my job. My only problem was what to do with Lynder so I asked if I could blag an extra ticket and then I would do it and they agreed! So I met Lynder to go on a pub crawl but then surprised her by announcing we were going to the Odyssey. Luckily she loves Westlife..

So here we are enjoying an impromptu concert and guzzling as much free wine into as as time would allow. I've seen these boys about three times now and I do think this was their best concert yet - but the 2 bottles of White NZ might be augmenting my views somewhat... Still you decide!!

A good time was had by all!!

As I mentioned earlier, Smithy and I performed Carmina Burana last night with Methody at their annual concert at the Waterfront Hall - and here is the night captured for all time.

Special mention to our LYNDER who surpassed even her self with a spine tinglingly fabulous performance as soprano soloist. She reached notes that only dogs can hear...

Don't be shilly, I'm perfectly shober!!

    Lynder and Jenny

I've been playing around a bit with a new picture editing thing I've downloaded and I produced this slightly enhanced picture of Lynder and Jenny at Ripon Cathedral England.

    Nice isn't it?

    Woa Black Betty!!

Here's a product that will keep everyone guessing...

When looking at this I especially thought of our girls Lynder, Jenny and Susan. Perhaps we should make it a compulsary part of the choir uniform...?

    Jenny and Chris's barbeque

Monday last week we were invited to a barbeque at Jenny and Chris's house - This is a photo of us doing our thing. Left to right is Andrew who works for the Ulster Orchestra, Lynda (or Lynder as we call her) who is a music teacher in a large school in Belfast, then Freddy who works for a bank, then Susie who also works for a bank, then Richard who prints up wedding invites and questionaires for people at the Northern Whig, and finally Mr Hutton. He works for the government here in Northern Ireland and lives in a gorgeous house right by the sea in Portavogie.

Unfortunately the rain was ridiculous at the barbeque - Chris bravely fought on with his barbeque fluid squirting everywher in a bid to keep the flames high under Richard's umbrella but they gave up and some of the food was done on the "George Formby" instead.

Here is us having the same event the year before - my how we have changed!!

    One year on...

A significant birthday is coming up. Believe it or not on July 26th last year I started this website. It was called a different name back then and a lot has changed.

I had no idea then what it was going to be when I pressed "publish" for the first time. I had no idea if anyone would ever read it apart from me.

I still have no idea what it is supposed to be!! I don't suppose I ever will, but I do know that I have had in excess of about ten thousand visitors since I started. If you had told me that when it first started I would never have done it.... How scary.

To define this site I would say that it is not actually a blog at all - it's a wide circle of friends all chipping in to a central point and catching up with each other in a unique way.

To commemorate our birthday, I thought I would take you on a walk down memory lane - well - more a brisk gallop really. Here is a selection of posts which sum up what has been happening here: ENJOY!!

    JULY 2005

1 - First ever post!! How stupid did I sound!!

    What if....

THIS ARTICLE gave me an idea. Instead of our annual trip to Barcelona, why don't we all go naked in Dorset?

Or even better find a nudest holiday in Majorca???

    Food for thought...

I can imagine Susan and Lynder playing naked volleyball with me and Alan Hutton without a care in the world!!!

    Lynda's Joke of the day!!

An Irish daughter had not been home for over 5 years. Upon her return, her father cussed her. "Where have ye been all this time? Why did ye not write to us, not even a line? Why didn't ye call? Can ye not understand what ye put yer old mum thru?"

The girl, crying, replied, "Sniff, sniff.... dad.... I became a prostitute...."

"Ye what!!? Out of here, ye shameless harlot! Sinner! You're a disgrace to this family."

"OK, dad.... as ye wish. I just came back to give mum this luxurious fur coat, title deed to a ten bedroom mansion plus a savings certificate for $5 million. For me little brother this gold Rolex and for ye daddy the sparkling new Mercedes limited edition convertible that's parked outside plus a membership to the country club....(takes a breath).... an invitation for ye all to spend New Years Eve on board my new yacht in the Riviera, and...."

"Now what was it ye said ye had become?" says dad.

Girl, crying again, "Sniff, sniff.... a prostitute dad! Sniff, sniff."

"Oh! Be Jesus!.... Ye scared me half to death, girl! I thought ye said 'a Protestant'. Come here and give yer old man a big hug!"

    Thanks Lynder for that!!

Freds Christmas / New Years Honours List

I decided today to afford the time to write an actual blog article to you all thanking you for your visits and support over the year.

It's a funny thing but this blog only started in late July. It seems to me to have been around forever and I really don't know if I could ever do without it now. My input has been at times patchy and at times regular as clockwork. Back in the days of Sept / Oct, readers will remember that I ran a daily "quiz" - this attracted around 60 visits A DAY and was great crack but it required a lot of work and eventually I ran out of steam.

The identity of the mysterious and incredibly rude "Byte" generated quite a bit of interest not least of all from me. It turned out to be Richard who was the very last person I thought it could be. If I were to be transported into a Miss Marple mystery, I don't think I would fare very well... It's no wonder I was crap at the murder mystery evening that Fi and Richard organised last year!! In the end I think J'accused the fondue set that night.

Anyway I digress. I don't do Christmas Cards - I can't be bothered and I think one less person chopping up trees must be a good thing. Don't get me wrong though - I love getting them! So ....

Instead of Christmas Cards, A Fred's OBE (Order of the Blog Empire) goes to some special people this Christmas, both online and real live face to face friends, who have been particularly great this year to me and who all make my life fantastic. Apologies if any of this is over sentimental but that's what I do best...If I leave anyone out let me know - it's just cos I'm stupid rather than that I've forgotten them...

    FRED AND FRED OBE'S
to Alan C who has started a new life in Edinburgh and who is lovin it..
    to Andrew my rock....(!)
to Shazza Cazza Lazza and Jazza.....
to Matthew and Clare my annual relatives
to my Dad who I love enormously and with whom I had the nicest day of my life earlier on this year up a small mountain in Majorca
to my Mum who has had a terrible year but who is doing great despite everything
    to Byte(!)
to Clair, Leanne, wee Gerard and Anne in Dunmurry and England who are all making millions for an ungrateful man
to Clare and Geoff who have both had a tough year and for whom 2006 can only be better
to Courtney the conductor who will be an amazing world class name some day
    to Darran in Cork
to David R and his curlie wurly hair - keep the curly wurly curries coming
to David and Pamela and little Erin, little Erin has melted my heart and some day she'll probably break it…
to Fi and Richard who are coming back to NI and facing the unknown
to Gillian our Barts director and my life-longest serving bestest friend,
to Eric one of my other dads...
to Jenny and Chris our other newlyweds who invited us to their fab wedding dancing where I had a ball!!
    to Jonny Ireland our Son
to Jonny Roberts in his new house that he has worked so hard for
    to Karin and Charles,
to Katherine and Gavin who are about to give birth and who deserve so much happiness next year
to Katrina my sister in her new house who deserves everything in the world
to Kerri L who was mugged recently but is showing humiliating resolve and strength,
to Lawrain and David our hair consultants…
to Lisa in NZ and Walker in Canada our long distance lovers who are seeing each other this Christmas for the first time in ages
to Michael R who helped us grind a few bastards down earlier on in the year,
to my Dentist Karen who fixed me up good as new when disaster struck in Barcelona,
to my wee Lynder who shone like a star on TV last night and who I love deeply,
to my wee mate Ed who I can honestly say for such a young person is one of the most mature kind friends I have ever had
to Philip our dynamic composer in residence who writes the songs that make the whole world cry,
to Richard and Susan our newly wedded bestest friends who both Raise Me Up!!
    to Rswipe
    to Tess and Michael,
    to Tim Jones
to Wylfie the pantomime dame (don't even ask)

But the biggest Christmas Fred's honour this year -
A Fred's Knighthood goes to all the guys at Vodafone who have made me feel human again.

To Julie a fantastic woman with so much poise and command in work and yet who has the capacity to melt into a great friend,
to Isla (a truly intelligent and bohemian spirit)
to Susan (our poor bad cop who has to remind us all where the lines are and is a real gem)
and last but not least our Sandra who brought me in when I was out in the cold in February and who is one of the most generous people I know and for whom I would do anything!!

Blub Blub - I love you all and here's to 2006!!!

    Jenny and Chris's Champagne Barbeque

Sat night was "Champagne Night" and Jenny and Chris (yet again) provided us with a fab night. They treated us to their wedding champagne (much appreciated especially by me) and a fabby barbeque (my fav was the corn on't cob!!!)

Many thanks to Jenny and Chris from all of us - really enjoyed your pics of Rio and hope that my ridiculous consumption of alchohol didn't make me slur too much...

Here are a few pics from the evening.

Jenny and Chris's Wedding photo's can be found HERE.

    Richard and Susan

We all enjoyed Jenny and Chris's spread

My first e-mail about the site!!

I'm very excited - I've just received my first e-mail regarding the website and here it is for you all (apologies Lynda but it had to be done)

    Darling!
I've just been perusing your website and think it's highly entertaining and very imaginative! I liked the different types of information you posted.
Everything from recipes to the weather - it really is very useful as well as being interesting.
The picture of you, myself and Jennifer is of course fab (apart from that strange thing I was doing with my mouth). You look like James Bond at the opera - simply 'sex' personified!
I tried to post a comment but alas when I had to sign up to be a 'blogger'
could not think of a suitable title for my address and had to abandon my registration. I will go back to it after I've given it some more thought.
The dish you had in Bennett's sounds great. I've been there a few times but have only eaten there once. I ordered the burger which was mediocre and overcooked and did not come with pickle as promised on the menu and cost £9 or something equally as expensive! The chips were vg though.
Perhaps we could go another time and I will give it another chance.
I liked many aspects of your website. The black background and the title , for example. I also liked the advert - it amused me greatly. I also liked the way you referred to Kemal as 'that Kemal' - had a little snigger to myself.
Anyways I shall be off now. Just thought I'd share my thoughts on your venture. It was lovely to see you today for our Subway. I have been chuckling away to myself every time I think of your colonic experience.
Colin is probably in therapy as we speak. After our conversation I went to Tescos this afternoon and bought a bumper size box of All Bran. I will have a bowl in the morning and then wait with baited breath for my 'yield'. Can't wait!
I will folllow your website entries with great interest. Any more photos of me that you put up (if indeed you decide to do this) must be fabulous baby doll! See you soon

    Tuesday

So I've read so much about blogging that it's time I found out what the benefits are. So this is me at Castleward with two of my friends, Lynda and Jenny. Castleward is the venue for an Opera season which is held once a year.
